How An Orthodox Priest and a Rabbi saved 50,000 Jews in Bulgaria!
(We have known Avi and Chaya for many years and have personally supported their fruitful ministry. Jorge serves on their Advisory Board and we invite you to learn more and pray about supporting this vital ministry in Israel.)
Here is Avi writing below:
Dear Friend,
Eight years ago, God put it on my heart to start a project that would expand His Kingdom in Israel.
It has been a long road, but the time is here. We are at the last hurdle.
You are receiving this very special letter because I consider you to be one of the greatest friends of this
ministry, a member of the “upper room,” if you will. Because of your fervent prayers, genuine love, and
generous support of what we do at Dugit Outreach Ministries, I needed to tell you first.
I have just finished writing a book that I believe will advance our ministry efforts in Israel tenfold!
Legacy of Hope: Hidden Heroes from Generation to Generation is a story that will resonate with
every Jewish heart in Israel and unfold the Good News of Yeshua.
But what God is doing is far more than just a book. My heart and mind are overwhelmed at what has
happened!
As you know, the modern nation of Israel was born 75 years ago, shortly after the end of World War II.
So many families in Israel were touched by the horrors of the Holocaust and nearly everyone here has
stories to tell of relatives lost, close calls, and harrowing escapes.
One of the stories of great heroism that emerged in the years following World War II was that of
Rabbi Daniel Zion, a story very close to my heart as Rabbi Daniel and my parents were dear friends.
Rabbi Daniel joined with an Orthodox Christian priest, Metropolitan Stefan, to boldly risk their freedom
and possibly their lives to rescue nearly 50,000 Bulgarian Jews from the death camps of Nazi Germany.
I have memories of this Rabbi laying hands on me and blessing me as a child. I remember my parents
told of these heroic efforts and passed the passion on to me and to others. In addition to the selfless
acts of these two men and the thousands of lives that were saved, this is also a story of salvation. You
see, as the close-knit friendship of Metropolitan Stefan and Rabbi Daniel grew, Rabbi Daniel came to
believe that Yeshua (Jesus) was indeed Israel’s long-awaited Messiah! Hallelujah!
What a testament of God’s faithfulness—oh, that all of Israel would come to know this as well!
Many years ago, as I was helping my daughters with a school project, the Lord put it on my heart to
put pen to paper and capture this miraculous story before it was lost to future generations. Over my
30 years of ministry, I have written many sermons, Bible studies, articles, and blog posts, but this was
so much more—and it took me eight years of the Lord’s guidance to get it right! I knew that once
this project was complete, the Lord’s hand of favor would have to be on this, and friend, the evidence
is all around it!
Not only is Legacy of Hope an inspiring story of courage as Rabbi Daniel and Metropolitan Stefan face
a terrifying series of very dangerous situations head-on to carry out their perilous plans to preserve the
lives of nearly 50,000 Bulgarian Jews, but it also touches on deep matters of the heart as throughout
the story I also examine Rabbi Daniel’s personal commitment to Yeshua as Messiah.
In the final chapters, I also have an opportunity to share my family’s story and even my own testimony
of faith as I clearly present the Good News in a way that I believe will powerfully and personally
connect with Jewish readers.
I wrote this book to move the hearts of all the people of Israel and we have paired with it an academic
research paper written by my daughter titled Deliver My People that supports the historic legitimacy
of the story. This research paper is enormously important for getting the book accepted in Israel.
I knew that writing this book would be the easy part of the project. A book about a Messianic Jew,
written by a Messianic Jew, would be a challenge just to get printed in Israel. Such projects are nearly
always condemned before they can even take shape. Our plan was to use this book as an evangelism
tool and give it away as we shared the love of Yeshua. But we did not know the amazing doors God
would open.
Because of the historic footprint of this book, a well-known museum in Israel has given their
stamp of approval!
The museum is making plans to dedicate a small section to Rabbi Daniel Zion and his story—knowing
he was a Messianic Jew!—and this will be the very first time that a prominent Israeli museum
will have a section devoted to a Messianic Jew! Praise God! Dear friend, this is truly a historic,
unprecedented event!
The Lord has opened yet another door and the museum directors have agreed to host a premiere
event to promote Rabbi Daniel Zion, this book, and the research paper! This book will be picked up by
many people looking to read about history and they will discover a Messiah that sees them, loves
them, and came to save them!
But even this is not all. Because of the endorsement of the museum and our agreement with the
publishing company, copies will be made available in every public library in Israel!
It is unheard of that a book written in Hebrew by a Jewish believer in Yeshua, about a rabbi who
believed in Yeshua, containing the way to salvation would ever be printed in Israel. Let alone become
a highlight of a museum. And to get it into Israeli libraries is beyond all I could have imagined. For
years, I thought it could only be a tool that we would use to give to people with our hands. But God is
distributing it across all Israel with His hands!
As I write this to you, I am happy to report the book is complete. Written, typeset, proofed, and the
English and Hebrew translations are complete. We have found publishers in Israel and the United
States who are willing to print and distribute it. The museum and libraries are ready to receive it. There
is but one last hurdle. The cost of printing and distributing.
There have been many expenses throughout this process, but we need your help to overcome
this final obstacle. I do not believe that the Lord would bring us to this point and not provide the
resources to birth this book into the world. Would you prayerfully consider partnering with us to bring
this project to completion?
I am only writing this letter to a handful of our closest friends. Friends like you who understand the
heartbeat of this ministry, who know how hard the ground has been to plow in Israel, and who can
discern the true magnitude of the doors that have been opened to us with this book.
It will cost us $27,000 to print and nationally distribute Legacy of Hope and Deliver My People in
Israel. The books are already at the printer, waiting for the funds to start production. Will you please
pray about helping get this message of hope to the people of Israel?
This is a landmark moment in history, one I am honored to share with you because I know your love for
Israel and your heart to see all of Israel come to know Yeshua.
If you would give a generous one-time donation to help print the historic Hebrew edition of Legacy
of Hope and Deliver My People, I will send you a personally signed English copy of Legacy of Hope as
soon as it is available, to commemorate the impact your gift has had on sharing the Good News. This
signed copy will be a reminder of the tangible difference you made to spread the Good News in Israel
and to the Jewish people. I believe the book will also greatly encourage you as well!
Will you help us finish this project and reach Israel with the Good News of Messiah? Please give your
best gift today.
Be blessed in the name of Yeshua,
Avi Mizrachi
Founder of Dugit Outreach Ministries
Pray and ask the Lord what best gift He has for you to sow into Israel's destiny. You can send a special gift, as you normally do at www.cmm.world for Israel or give at www.dugit.org
P.S. This is an unprecedented moment in Israel. I have never seen, let alone been a part of, such a
move of God where a story like this could reach the hearts of the Jewish people in such ways!
Please help us finish this work and take the Good News of Yeshua through the great doors that
the Father has opened for us. Your generosity will change lives in Israel!
Legacy of Hope: Hidden Heroes from
Generation to Generation
Here are the words of a few leaders who
have read the book. Can you imagine
the impact it will have across Israel?
Legacy of Hope is a moving story of God’s faithfulness to the Jewish people. It
highlights the amazing journey of Rabbi Daniel Zion, the Chief Rabbi of Bulgaria, who
was instrumental in saving Bulgarian Jews from the Nazis in World War II. Rabbi Zion
later immigrated to Israel and became a dedicated follower of Yeshua (Jesus) the
Messiah. He paid a price for his faith, but his influence has had ripple effects from
generation to generation, especially seen in the Mizrachi family and their special
story of Yeshua’s love and grace. This is not only an important historical account, but
a moving testimony of God’s goodness through obedient servants who simply said
“yes” to Yeshua.

Legacy of Hope is a fascinating story of adventure and intrigue. The prophet Daniel
declared that “the people that know their God shall be strong, and do exploits” (11:32).
Another Daniel arose in the twentieth century who did remarkable exploits—from
rescuing fellow Jews from the ovens of the Holocaust to leading Israelis to their
Redeemer. Rabbi Daniel Zion caused a ripple effect that is still being felt today. Read
his story and be inspired.

Legacy of Hope—the rescue of almost 50,000 Jewish
souls from the ovens of Poland to the salvation, both
physically and spiritually, of the Mizrachi family, makes
this story an exciting, inspirational one that brings hope
to the heart during these darkening days in the world.
Avi Mizrachi and his family have provided us a beneficial
story of what G-d can do when people surrender to the
love of G-d provided through Yeshua the Messiah.
