The K ingdom Of Heaven
by Jorge Parrott
My friend, Pastor Tom, asked me to speak on the Kingdom of Heaven at his church recently. My heart leaped when I heard him ask that! The Kingdom of Heaven is exciting. We read in the Word about the Kingdom of Heaven, the Kingdom of God, mustard seed, faith, mysteries, revelation, what is hidden shall be known, and many other characteristics of Kingdom of Heaven.
We read that only those who do the Father’s will shall be in the Kingdom of Heaven. The Thomas Nelson NKJV study Bible says Matthew is the only book we see "Kingdom of Heaven" referenced in. It is a Jewish way of saying the Kingdom of God. The Jews avoided saying the Kingdom of God out of respect for Him. They often used the word heaven as an alternative way to refer to God.
Many places in the Bible we see references to the Kingdom of God. Some say that the Kingdom of Heaven is not the same as the Kingdom of God. We can agree that they both have the same owner. Some say that the Kingdom of God is now and some say the Kingdom of Heaven is when Jesus comes back and takes His rightf ul place. Can we agree that one leads to another?
The two share many of the same attributes: Holiness, purity, righteousness, justice, freedom and so much more. Let’s not think too hard about it.
Let's all be thinking more of the Kingdom of God or the Kingdom of Heaven. Maybe your ideas about the Kingdom of Heaven need to be enlarged, renewed, refreshed, or re-awakened.
There is a powerful scripture in Matthew about how our perception of the God an d His Kingdom can affect our outcome. We need to sharpen our focus, guard our hearts and minds, so that we indeed become a citizen of Heaven.
Our outlook of God will determine our outcome in God. He did everything for us, but if we think He did little for us, He will do little. We must expect great things to see great things.
The Parable of the Talents
Matthew 25:14-30 (NKJ) “For the kingdom of heaven is like a man traveling to a far country, who called his own servants and delivered his goods to them. 15 And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability; and immediately he went on a journey. 16 Then he who had received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents.
17 And likewise he who had received two gained two more also. 18 But he who had received one went and dug in the ground, and hid his lord’s money. 19 After a long time the lord of those servants came and settled accounts with them.
20 “So he who had received five talents came and brought five other talents, saying, ‘Lord, you delivered to me five talents; look, I have gained five more talents besides them.’ 21 His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a f ew things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’ 22 He also who had received two talents came and said, ‘Lord, you delivered to me two talents; look, I have gained two more talents besides them.’ 23 His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’
24 “Then he who had received the one talent came and said, ‘Lord, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered seed. 25 And I was afraid, and went and hid your talent in the ground. Look, there you have what is yours.’
26 “But his lord answered and said to him, ‘You wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed. 27 So you ought to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I would have received back my own with interest. 28 So take the talent from him, and give it to him who has ten talents.
29 ‘For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away. 30 And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’
May you learn to delight in the unseen wonders of God. Know that He has great plans for you and His love is so big He gives you eternity to gaze into His Kingdom of Heaven. He is leading you on this very moment. Take His hand just now, walk with Him. Let’s go on a journey in His glory for a few moments, come on with me. If you want or need to get up and walk around, lie on the floor at the altar, wave a banner, run, sing, cry, dance, be free. It is time to be free, friend of God. He wants to dance. Today is the day to let it all go.
Imagine walking in the Kingdom of Heaven, free of sin, free of condemnation, ego, pride, rejection, failures, setbacks, bitterness, free of sadness, illness, poverty, injustice and free of all manner of things not of God.&nbs p; Imagine what it is like to walk, run, dance, work, reign with Christ, seeing the nations won to Him.
Mark 11:23-24, What things so ever you desire, when you pray, believe that you have received them, and you shall have them.
Imagine shouting Hallelujah for a million years, getting lost in worship. Imagine being full of joy, knowledge, peace, victory, salvation, deliverance from all attacks, and walking in the cool of the day with the Lord of all creations. Imagine flying with angels. Imagine singing, dancing, rejoicing. Imagine. Im agine. Imagine. Dream of that day, for it is at hand. It can be very close. The Kingdom of God is at hand.
Let’s first look at this scripture from Mark 1:15 (NKJ), Jesus saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel”. Two things we must do by faith: repent and believe. Good advice. Repent and believe. Repent means “turn away from sin”. Believe means believe. (A. to accept as truth something with out having proof B. Truth is a person, Jesus. C. to accept the truth of a story. D. to have confidence in a person, Jesus).
Luke12:29-32(the Message) "What I'm trying to do here is get you to relax, not be so preoccupied with getting so you can respond to God's giving. People who don't know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how He works. Steep yourself in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. You'll find all your everyday human concerns will be met. Don't be afraid of missing out. You're my dearest friends! The Father wants to give you the very kingdom itself”.
So, we are to turn away from sin and accept what Jesus says as truth. And we are to seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto us.
You may have heard, it takes more faith to be an atheist than it does a Christian. If you believe in an unseen God, you have all the faith you need to change the world. You can start today by changing your world and changing the world of your family. Take a righteous stand for God today. Do something, by faith, to show those around you that you are a new creation, by His grace. Make sure it is done with love showing through it.
We make this Christian walk too hard by thinking too much and not resting in His goodness, believing His word, and to believe His word, we must know His word. We have a peace which can not be shaken. We must not let our inner man or our spiritual walk be shaken by external circumstances. We must study His word regularly, so that when hard times come, and they will come, we can stand on His word, even running to the battle. We have great authority. God gives grace to the humble and resists the proud.
In the days ahead we need to be very strong. The Word says, "The joy of the Lord is our strength!" If we want to grow stronger, we must work at being more full of joy. He is our strength and our joy. Is this getting easier or more clear?
If you are facing hard times, are you resisting the devil? If you resist him, he must flee. So examine your hearts, give it to God, and get it on with life. Snap out of it, get over it.
Don’t let any bitterness, rejection, shame, and discouragement, hold you back. Give them all back to the devil, take authority, worship God, rejoice and be glad. Enter into His courts with praise and thanksgiving.
His Word, His power, His Kingdom, my life, your life, they all belong to Father God, so surrender to His will and rejoice. His will be done, with us or without us, so rejoice. The Kingdom of Heaven is so big, so different, so diverse, so full of surprises, so much so, that we have barely the capacity to know much about it, just enough to make us want it more than life itself.
The Kingdom of Heaven is a mystery so grand that it motivates us to get through another day, moment by moment, grace unto grace, to see the God of all creation and wonder unfold His plan, His purposes, in such supernatural miraculous ways, that often I am speechless, just waiting to see what He does next…”like the deer pants for the water, so my soul cries out to Thee!”
God is the same, yesterday, today, and forever. Yet, His entrance into our world, His creation, has been done in stages. He created Heaven and Earth. He created light, soil, water, plants, animals, men and women. He cre ated angels, Adam and Eve, and he created evil, knowing that man would sin. He expelled Adam and Eve from the garden of Eden, knowing that He had a way for us to return, to be reconciled, to once more walk in the cool of the day. He makes a way for us, time after time. His love is overwhelming. Let it overwhelm you today and every day.
He created family. He gives gifts, talents, and the ability to hear His still, small voice. He gave us free will so we must choose Heaven or hell.
He sent His son Jesus as the supreme sacrifice and the only way back to the Father. He sent His Holy Spirit to guide us, to carry us through, to counsel us, to comfort us, to lead us. He created all things and He made a way for us to return to Him. His Kingdom is the Kingdom of Heaven.
Heaven was our first home. We are but sojourners on this earth, our second and temporary home. Rest in His peace for this trial and tribulation is for our good, our growth, our strengthening. Run to the battles. We have a Kingdom that can not be shaken.
Ask for more wisdom, He grants it. Ask for the tools to be an overcomer, He grants them. Ask for the victory, He grants it. We have not because we ask not. But, we must learn to ask according to His will, His purpose. This is the greater challenge. It is not up to us, if we live a surrendered life. It is up to Him.
The Kingdom of Heaven has a door. The door has a key. The key is faith. The faith to open that door to the Kingdom of Heaven is given to us through knowing the Word of God. The Word of God is truth. Truth is a person, Jesus. Jesus gives you the key to unlock the door to the Kingdom of Heaven. He is all you need to enter into the inner court, the Holy of Holies. He is from the tribe of Judah, praise. Praise, faith, keys. Possession of your inheritance has been granted. What are you waiting for? Go in. Go in to your holy destiny. Now! BREATHE! Step into it.
When you are weak, you are strong in Him. When you are at your lowest is when He is able to rescue you. Let go, just let go. Take a breath right now, and let it all go. Breathe in His light. There is a fresh breeze blowing right now from the Kingdom of Heaven across this room, breathe it in. Breathe.
He is able to breathe on you right now from the Kingdom Throne Room.
Lay down all your cares, all your woes, your burdens , your crisis you may be in today, give it to Him, now. Jesus died on that cross, for you, for your burdens, your debts, your diseases, your trial, He says, it is finished! WOW! Repent and believe! He takes away the sin of the world. Breathe! Let His Spirit overtake you now. He loves you so much, we barely know how much He loves us. Lord, show Your love right now, so they may repent and believe.
Your will Lord, is for them to be free from their burdensome life, show them Lord. Show them. Heal them Lord. Touch them, Jesus.
The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand. Place you r hand in front of nose. It is right there. Breathe! Let it go! Let it all go! See, He is giving you mouth to mouth resuscitation right now. His kiss, His finger, His touch, His Word, can raise the dead. His resurrection ushered in the Kingdom of Heaven. The veil was torn. The veil of all eternity was torn from top to bottom. For you, for you, the veil was torn. Breathe! Breathe!
He says His sheep know His voice, so we must study, wait, and listen, learning His voice, His timing, His ways. Stop your striving. Breathe, rest, wait, but in a pro-active fashion, like a warrior. Be prepared, be ready, be vigilant, watch and pray. He will use you if He can trust you.
He sent us here to learn what not to do, so when we enter His Kingdom of Heaven, we would know what to do, and we would know to do it in such a way that it becomes our nature to do things according to His will.
Before time began, He purposed in His heart what He placed in our hearts. Our purposes were born at that time. In His Kingdom, beyond time, we will not have to think about it, we will know it. Resist the tendency, the habit-pattern of thinking too much. The battle is in the mind. Remember the parable of the talents. The last servant believed God was a hard task master, and he buried his talent and God said at least in the bank He could have gained interest, cast that wicked one out of Heaven! Wow!
Knowing what He wants us to do, we will become it. Knowing His will enables us to become His will. Ask the Lord to show you how He wants you to see others, yourself, and how to see situations that come up the way He wants you to see them.
If your dream can be accomplished in your life time, then it is too small. Look in the scriptures for the accounts of Abraham, Joseph, and others that carried generational assignments. Take a look at Hebrews 11:38-40 and see the weaving process of multi-generational assignments/dreams and the great cloud of witnesses cheering us on, and you will learn more about Kingdom vision and how to see with a Ki ngdom mindset and perspective.
It is such a beautiful song of life that is unfolding, we often are oblivious or unaware how He is working. Often, He presents opportunities to us, and we fail to recognize His open door, because of our limited vision and understanding. We say, “what door?”. His door may look like a one-way street to us, and we don’t want to be limited.
Our life in Christ is a life of mystery, wonder, and learning. It is a life of trials and testing, so that we may learn how to rule and reign in the Kingdom of Heaven with Jesus Christ as our captain. Those who are last shall be first, those who are first shall be last. The Kingdom of Heaven may appear to be a mystery of riddles and tricks to the human mind. How do we see beyond the veil and have the fullness of clarity that is common in the Kingdom of Heaven?
If we do not grow weary in well doing and we faint not, we shall cross on over to the Kingdom life. Let me encourage you to persist and persevere in the days ahead so that you too, may fight the good fight, and finish your race and hear the Lord say, “well done, thou good and faithful servant”. Let’s look into the Kingdom of Heaven.
Luke 17:20-21 Now when He was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, He answered them and said, “The kingdom of God does not come with observation; 21 nor will they say, ‘See here!’ or ‘See there!’ For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you.”
Nothing is too difficult for God. What are you facing? Give it to Him today. Luke 11:20 "But if I cast out demons with the finger of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you". He can do it. Will you let Him?
