THE TRAIN CAME BACK--Amazing Story of Faith--From PG Vargis, largest church planter in India!!

Note from Jorge Parrott about PG Vargis:

PG is a great friend of ours and CMM. We first met back in the 90's and each time I go to India I stay with him, and when possible, when he visits the US, we see him. He has stayed in our home many times and I have stayed in his many times. Two years ago, a friend of mine from Virginia, and I were making plans to visit our several friends in India. He wanted to leave on Oct. 31 or Nov. 1 and when I prayed, I felt the Lord say October 23rd.  I told my friend, John, "I will meet you in Lucknow on the 1st, I am leaving on the 23rd."  I flew to Newark from Charlotte and was leaving late at night from Newark to Delhi. As the plane was boarding, who did I see coming towards me? PG and his precious wife, Lilly, were on the same plane, just having come down from Canada on their way home. We hugged and laughed. PG asked me what row I was on. The presence of God came out of us as we pulled out our tickets and we were all on row 33!!! Now, that is the Lord!!! How He knits our hearts together across the seas and in to His heart for all eternity. When we boarded the plane, I asked a woman to trade one seat so we could all sit together all the way to Delhi.

I had not booked a hotel to stay in when I got to Delhi either. Somehow, I knew God would provide and He did. PG and Lilly insisted on me staying with them in their home that night. Their driver picked us up at the airport. What a wonderful and supernatural time in India, as always.

Stepping off the cliff of our comfort zones, with You,

Jorge Parrott

                                                                                                An unbelievable but true story.

THE TRAIN CAME BACK

In the early 70's when we were pioneer missionaries in Katra, in the Himalayan Mountains of Kashmir it was a hard and difficult life, often filled with hunger and poverty. One day I was returning to Katra with an orphan boy. Our train arrived in Delhi railway station at about 3:00 PM and I was to catch the train (Jhelum Express) to Jammu from Delhi at 9:00 PM, and then go by bus from Jammu to Katra, our mission station.

After the train arrived in Delhi, I took things easy since there were 6 hours left to catch the connecting train for the second phase of the journey. At 5:00 PM, I asked a porter, "Can you tell me from which platform the Jhelum Express, the train to Jammu, would leave?" He looked at me and said, "The train already left at 4:00 PM." I was shocked as the porter explained that the train timings had changed recently, and so departure time of the train, Jhelum Express had been advanced from 9:00 PM to 4:00 PM.  Shell shocked, I began to shake. "Where will I stay for the night?" I thought to myself. I did not have the money to stay even in the cheapest hotel. It was severe winter. The open railway station was the only place to rest, but the freezing weather would surely kill the orphan boy. Bare footed, wearing shorts and a thin shirt, the boy was already shivering. I knew that if he stayed with me on the railway platform he would die of the cold.

As a new Christian and a missionary, I started to do the only thing I knew – pray. "Oh God of Abraham, help me! Lord as there is no other train to Jammu, will you please do something so that my train which has already left will come back!"

I realized that this was an impossible prayer, because trains that have left a station – especially a very busy station like New Delhi, the capital city of India – do not come back. I knew that the train had left over an hour before, and even if it developed a problem it would be taken to the closest railway station or another engine would be sent to it. So there was no chance- absolutely none – of it coming back! But I did not have any choice. So with a childlike faith, I continued to pray, believing that God is a God of impossibilities.

As I prayed, my faith was increasing and I started to speak to the train. "Train, I command you to come back! As the servant of Almighty God, I say, come back!" I started to pace up and down the platform and continued to pray. I prayed in my understanding and in tongues for at least 30 minutes. People looked at me walking up and down on the railway platform murmuring something. The shivering Hindu orphan boy watched perplexed as I commanded the train to come back! I continued walking up and down the platform and asking God to bring the train back. At about 5:45, I saw the silhouette of a train backing up slowly towards platform one where I was standing.  I strained to see through the growing darkness. Yes, it was a train backing up to the station.

My body straightened as the train got closer to me. I looked at the signboard as the train stopped in front of me. It said, "Jhelum Express: Delhi to Jammu." I jumped inside the train and shouted HALLELUIJAH! Hearing the loud shout, the train ticket examiner came to me. I told him the story, and how I prayed for my train to come back. The Hindu ticket examiner looked at me in amazement and exclaimed, "You are a man of God! Sir, about an hour after our train left New Delhi railway station, some technical problem developed in the engine. We could not carry on with the rest of the journey. So we called the Central Railway control room in New Delhi and asked them to send another engine. But we were asked to come back." He continued, "It is very impractical and unrealistic to call back a train to the busy New Delhi, after it has left the station for some time. And it is a real miracle from God that it came back to platform number one – which is always busy for prestigious trains. In my whole life, I have never heard of such a thing happening! But, now we know why this train was asked to come back. I believe in your prayers. In fact, since I did not see you when the train left, I had given your sleeper berth away to someone else. But now I want to give you a new berth and one extra one for the boy too!"

The orphan boy and I rested well and reached Jammu the next day.  Amen!

In May 2001, I was in Bintulu, a small town in Malaysia, speaking in one day's seminar. By the evening, the auditorium was completely filled. It was a blessing to me to see the faith of these believers rise as I spoke. I shared this story with the people and challenged them for a breakthrough faith. I said, 'call back your train and expect it to come.'

The next day, I was at the Bintulu airport, waiting to catch a return flight to Kuching. At the airport, there was a lady waiting for me. She took me and my friend, Pastor William Than, for a cup of coffee and told us this story. She said that her name was Rosa. Rosa and one of her friends, Tida, had heard my message the previous night. The story about the train that came back, stirred up their faith. Rosa told us that Tida's husband had left her 18 years ago. They had a kid from their marriage but her husband had left her for another woman. Tida loved her husband very much, and had waited all these years for him to return. It was at this stage that she heard my message and the story of the train that came back.

Tida and Rosa decided to call back their train, Tida's husband. If a train could be brought back by God, then why not a wayward husband! The two ladies prayed in Tida's apartment until 2'O clock. Not long after the prayer had ended, Tida's telephone rang. It was her husband! After 18 years, he had called to say that he was leaving the other woman and coming back forever.

Yes! I want to challenge you: "Don't give up"! If your train, your blessing has left without your promises being fulfilled, then do not be disheartened. Do not give up. Call back your blessings, your healing, your job, your dues, your health, your peace! Call forth your miracle. Call back your train. It cannot leave without you. You must be in!! In Jesus name!!!

If you have any special prayer request, please do e-mail or write to us.

Meanwhile continue to pray for me and the ministry. There are several more people like Tida that need to hear about the love and power of our good God! Continue to stand with us in your prayers and support.

Indian Evangelical Team is growing strong and fast under the leadership of Joy Thomas. We need your encouragement and support.

Yours to count on to see India is evangelized in our lifetime. No one can do it alone. But together – we can do it. Let us do it - now,

From Indian Jungle Trip.... Hope For Precious Lepers

 Dr.Jorge and CMM Family,

Greetings to you in Jesus' name.

Thank you so much for all your prayers for my trip to jungle.

I am so much rejoicing in the Lord for bringing me and our team back from the jungle ministry after two days of visiting our co-workers, and encouraging them in the jungle ministry challenges.

                 THE COMMITMENT OF CO-WORKERS:

It was such an adventurous trip for me and our team to go and visit them by public transportation. There was not any vehicle for us to travel around the jungle. Just by walking and bicycles (our co-workers) with all our luggag. It was another good experience in the jungle, walking with all our luggage on our shoulders. We could sing and praise God while walking through  the jungle.

I am so happy to see our co-worker's(brother Rajaratnam, Lazarus , Amose,  Josesh,  Cornelius and Anand) commitment in spite of many oppositions  such as from local witchcraft people, anti-christian forces, and  challenges such as no proper bicycles, no proper food for them to eat nor drink and  financial struggles and physical sickness.

I could encourage them with the life of Paul how worked for the extension of God's kingdom.

I am so happy to see their renewing their commitment to move forward in spite of any opposition, or famine.
Most happiest thing for me to say about them is " they never complaint for any of their troubles and problems.

                OPENED-DOOR FOR LEPROSY MINISTRY:
I am so much excited to share with you that God has opened to reach leprosy people. There are 40 lepers living at the out side of the village called Yagarlapalli (neary by LLM Children's Home). Today, I could go and preach the Gospel to them. They are very much opened. The Lord showed us how precious thse

                       COMPASSION FOR THE LEPERS' MINISTRY:
When I saw their lives, it is very sad and my heart is broken to see their condition of living and how our people have thrown them out of the society. They do not have proper clothes, food, shelter and most of them not accepted Jesus as their savior.

God has put a great compassion in my heart to help them at least with some proper food and proper drinking water for them. At the same time my burden and ultimate goal is to WIN THEM AT ANY COST FOR THE LORD.

Please I request you to pray and stand with this ministry among lepers.

                  GOSPEL OPEN AIR MEETINGS:

On 1st,2nd and 3rd of June, the LLM Gospel Team is going to conduct three nights Gospel Meetings among anti-christian dominated areas. This is very risky for us. But we want to take this challenge and reach them at any cost. I am going to share the GOSPEL for three nights among them. Our team is going to lead the PRAISE AND WORSHIP. Please do pray for GOD'S ANOINTING OVER ME AND OUR TEAM AS WE ENDEVOURING TO REACH THE HINDU ORTHODOXY COMMUNITY FOR CHRIST. WE WANT TO SEE SIGNS AND WONDERS AND MIRACLES WHILE PREACHING THE GOSPEL AND LEADING THE WORSHIP.
THE TEAM AND ME HAVE BEEN PRAYING WITH FASTING FOR WINNING SOULS. WE WANT TO SEE THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT CHANGING LIVES OF THE HINDU PEOPLE.

We are in need of some lights, sound system and generator. We have to hire them for three nights. Please do pray for these urgent needs. At least we are in need of  $300 for the sound system and lights and generator. Kindly Pray about this need.
God has been using me and our LLM team powerfully in spite of many financial challenges.God is so good at times. Amen.
Thank you so much for all your prayers and standing with us. YOu are a great blessing. YOu are very important in this mission here in India. Please I request you to continue to pray and extend your support for the work of God here in India in these last days.
Thank you so much. HOpe to hear from you.
                 IN His field,
                     Jai&Yori and LLM Gospel Team.

Urgent need:
We are suppose to start the Church building construction. But there are no funds come in so far. We trust in God for His provision for the Church construction. Please continue to pray and stand with us. We are very much facing the problem without a proper Church building for worship services. Please stand with this project. Thank you so much.

You are planing a vital role in this ministry. You are a great blessing for us and the work of God. May God bless you and use more and more. Our prayers are with you.

         1.  Reaching street children: (by brother JOhn Peter and sister Santhi)

One of our LLM co-workers namely brother John Peter(now he is doing B.Th.) collected some street childen and taught them some gospel chorus and teach them Bible stories for past three days. Sister Santhi (LLM youth member) helped for the children ministry.

        2.   Opened door for Hindu community and soul winning:

God has opend to a door in order to reach the community called "Kaapu"(Hindus) through an open air gospel meeting.
As a result of the gospel meeting, one young boy namely "Naidappa"(hindu name) gave his life and got water baptism. There was no water for conducting the Baptism due to summer season. We had go 4 miles of walk all through the mud fields. Some how we did find some water in a canal and gave the water Baptism to the brother. Now I changed his name as David. Praise God!!!

      3. Our LLM orphanage boys' outing:

Our LLM orphanage boys want to go for outing (to the seashore)on Monday(24th of May). Now, their summer holidays are going to be over by 3rd of June. Arthur Burt, 97 year old prophet, protege of Smith Wigglesworth, speaking in Charlotte this Thursday May 21st, 7pm

Arthur Burt-Prophetic Waves Coming To Pass

Host:
Christ's Mandate for Missions

:
Date:
Thursday, May 21, 2009
Time:
7:00pm - 9:00pm
Location:
Christ's Mandate for Missions
Street:
834 Tyvola Rd. Suite 100
City/Town:
Charlotte, NC

Phone 704-517-2557

(Arthur Burt was born in England and lives in the village of Penmaenmawr, North Wales in the UK.)

Uncle Arthur, as he is known all around the world, often brings the Body of Christ together like one family. Encouraging Body ministry he echos, "My sheep hear My Voice," (John 10:27) "Listen to the Voice." He did. And because he did, this enlightening storyteller has humbly taken God's story to some forty-four nations proclaiming, "We're in the last of the last days!"

By the grace of God, Arthur has been heralding in a new day for over seventy years. He's a preacher, a teacher, a pastor, a missionary evangelist, a lover of God, a prophetic voice with an urgent message. He says the time is at hand, the day of fullness, the dispensation of the fullness of times...

Uncle Arthur is 97 this week! He has lived through World Wars and catastrophes, he's seen the start of many movements of God and the miraculous revivals. He's worked with his contemporaries like Smith Wigglesworth, those who have gone before us. But as a young man starting out in the ministry, he grabbed hold of a prophecy that has become a clarion call for today all around the world. Arthur has been faithful to speak it forth for nearly eighty years. Revivals have come and gone, but we are on the brink of the greatest time ever, "and there shall be no ebb."

Bob Jones, Kathy Walters and many others have spoken of Arthur Burt and are now emphasizing the prophecy that Arthur has been repeating all these years. God-willing, you'll be sure to hear the sound of the 1930's prophecy next Thursday night. Because now is the time...

Arthur's prophetic warnings have come with grace and with the wisdom of the ages. He's told stories like parables with spontaneity and humor. His message has been God's glory. "Prepare! Humble yourself! He's calling for a people who can handle the Presence of God to the Glory of God!"

Urgent Prayer Request from CMM Missionary in Uganda-Alissa Cooper

 Dear Friends and Prayer Partners,

I am asking for your prayers at this time.  I really need them.  My physical body has been undergoing many physical attacks.  I have been battling illness since I came to Uganda this time-but especially in the last week.  I have been quite weak and ill these last two days.  I did go to the doctor yesterday, and they did some tests, including a Malaria test, but they all came back fine.  I really believe that much of my illness is a spiritual attack.

Today I was getting very discouraged about how weak and sick my body was, and then my eyes were opened to see that this is exactly what the enemy wants to happen.  He is quite aware that I have much work to accomplish in a short period of time.  He sees things are happening , and he wants to prevent it.  He knows that if he can get control of my health, my mind, and my emotions, he can slow things down.

These attacks have not been directed to me alone.  The other people from the church and God's Care Ministries have also been facing physical illness.  Please cover all of us in your prayers.  We all have much work to do in the Lord's Kingdom and for the mission in Uganda.

Sometimes I think we forget that we are in a battle every day.  We cannot shrink back or lose our defensive stand.  It says in I Peter 5:8 and 9 "Stay Alert!  Watch out for your great enemy, the devil.  He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.  Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith.  (I also like how verse 9 is worded in the KJV "Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."

I am determined to resist the devil and keep fighting the battle.  I am determined to win over the enemy and gain the victory because actually Jesus already won the battle on the cross.  I know I have someone more powerful on my side and that I am more than a conqueror!  I thank God for helping me to become more alert, and I pray that I will continue to be alert so that I am not blindsided by an enemy attack.

Please pray with me for physical, emotional, and spiritual protection.  Please stand with me for complete and total healing and restoration of my body.  Please pray that God will make me an even stronger warrior in his Kingdom.  I know with God all things are possible!  He is not finished with me and the work he wants to accomplish in and through me-He is just beginning!  Thanks for your prayers and support.  God bless.

Faithfully Surrendered to Christ,

Alissa

The Heart Of A Father Shared With His Friends] Young Indian...

From Jai and Yori, CMM Missionaries in India. Visit their web site at http://lightoflifeindia.blogspot.com/ for more info and pictures.
Listen to http://radioactivate.org for missions and worship.

Dear family of God,
How are you all? May the Lord keep you all with sound health and use you for the extension of His kingdom. Our prayers are with you.
Please, I want to share with you a couple of things in this weekend:
First thing is  that our LLM Gospel Team is going to come back from the jungle ministry after one week of mobile ministry among tribals. This evening the team is going to reach at home. We are looking forward to hear their testimonies and reports how God has used them.
Secondly, today, I took Raju for blood test. The report says that it is typhoid. He is very sick now. Now Raju has been taking anti-biotic injections and pills and saline bottles.
I am serving him. Because he is an orphan boy. He does not have anybody. His relatives rejected him when he was a tiny boy.
By God's grace and your prayers and support, LLM Home has raised him nicely up in the Lord. Now, he is a good gospel singer. He is studying 10th standard now.
Please uphold brother Raju as one of your sons or brothers in your prayers.
If any body helps his medical bills, please stand with the medical bills. He has to take his course another 6 days.
                     Thank you so much
our prayers are with you. God bless you. Hope to hear from you.
             in His field,
               Jai&Yori.

Updates From: Jorge Parrott- Arthur Burt, May 21-New Orphanage In Uganda-Urgent Prayers For Mado in Spain

Updates From: Jorge Parrott- Arthur Burt, May 21-New Orphanage In Uganda-Urgent Prayers For Mado in Spain
Alissa Cooper and CMM staff
May 8, 2009

Dear Friends,

Psalm 91:2, "I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in Him will I trust."

Note from President Jorge Parrott,

Pray for the family of Larry Wentz, who passed away two days ago. Larry was a Vietnam vet, and suffered from Agent Orange cancer. Larry and Linda are precious, precious people and Larry is healed and dancing with Jesus.

Pray for Mado Fernandez, CMM pastor in N. Spain, who suffered a heart attack and is recovering and resting. She has been a pastor for over 40 years and worked tirelessly for years with Ruben (D. 2004) in prison ministry, radio ministry, (when it was illegal), and women's counseling. Mado is strong in the Word and has led many to a closer walk with the Lord for many years.

We are indeed in fast changing times. Where sin abounds, grace does abound more.  The times we are in require us to be more bold than ever before. We must stand for righteousness and justice and truth in this hour. Our nation is at great risk. Our constitutional foundations are being threatened and we may soon have international courts dictating outcomes of our own judicial process.  A close friend said recently that the  Lord showed him that the courage and bravery it took to found our great nation will be needed once more to save our great nation.

The Body of Christ must unite in prayer and faith actions to stop the lawlessness and swift tides changing all that has made our nation what it is. We see in scripture that in times of famine, the way out was through generous giving. Putting the cause of Christ ahead of our own comforts and our own circles of daily living releases a heavenly outpouring of blessings and protection around our families, our homes, our jobs, our businesses, and even in our neighborhood. Are you prepared with your close circle of friends, relatives, and neighbors by having adequate food and water stored up?  How will you handle hungry, desperate people who may hear that you have food and water supplies? We are called to 'wake up', prepare our hearts, our houses, our finances, in this hour to show the love of the Father to those who come. We must have sharp discernment and know the voice of the Lord, our Shepherd, in the days ahead.I suggest you get to know your neighbors now. It is a great opportunity to share God's love, lead them to the Lord, and strengthen the relationships necessary perhaps even for your own survival.

I believe the Lord is allowing this 'compression' during this time to prepare His people to be stronger, in faith, in deed, and in utter dependence on our Lord Jesus. Many have seen in a real, harsh way that we can not count on our wealth, our reserves, or even our government to pull us out of this mess. Human ability is not capable of the rescue plan we seek. God owns the cattle on a thousand hills. Why not just surrender fully to HIm now? The Holy Spirit will speak to you more if you listen and obey. What is He saying to you?

We are blessed to have Gwen Shaw, founder of End-Time Handmaidens and Servants here this weekend.  She is a clear trumpet call in this season. Their website is http://eth&s.org

Thursday May 21st at 7pm CMM is honored to host Arthur Burt, from England to share with us at 834 Tyvola Rd. Suite 100 Charlotte, NC 28217. Arthur received a prophetic word from the Lord in the 1930s that is coming to pass since last year.  He has ministered with Smith Wigglesworth and many others for many years.

Arthur wrote this in a book forward:

Dedicated to those who have missed the bus but who got there
just the same because someone gave them a lift.

"God does much with little, most with least and
everything with nothing!"

Come and join us that night if you can. May 21st at 7pm.

Meanwhile, your missionaries with CMM are on the front lines in many nations experiencing shortages, inflation, and violence.  Several of our missionaries in Pakistan are in hiding from the Taliban as we write this post. The Taliban has written on their homes, churches, and schools to prepare to die and say good bye to their families. Are you prepared to be a martyr for the cause of Christ? Whether you say yes or you are not sure, please pray for and support like never before our faithful family of CMM missionaries out there on the front lines pouring out their lives, even their blood for the one who saves, and that is Jesus of Nazareth.

Have you listened to Radio Activate? That is CMM's missions and worship radio station on the internet 24/7 reaching into over 40 nation to date with updates and great worship music. We need some financial partners and we need MP3 files of interviews with missionaries and those who have traveled to the mission fields to share their God encounters in the faith realm of the unfamiliar, when we get out of our own comfort zones and allow God to use our available hearts to hug on, minister love to, and share His goodness, kindness, and prophetic words with those in a far off land. Hebrews 11:6 says, " Without faith, it is impossible to please God."

Please visit our web site at http://cmmissions.net and click on missions and pray for our missionaries and get to know what they are doing in the nations.

Our second graduating class of http://cmmncct.org will be graduating June 5th. We offer courses around the world that lead to an accredited degree. (Associates, Bachelors, Masters, and Doctoral). Classes are available in English and Spanish.  Will you pray about sponsoring a foreign missionary or pastor in another country for $500.00USD  a year for a degree.  This means so much to them and gives them credibility and advances their influence and in depth intimacy with the Lord. You will have updates, photos of them and their family, and letters so you can build an eternal relationship with a warrior for Jesus.

Dear Friends,

I cannot believe that it is already May 5th. Time has gone so fast! I have been extremely busy this past month with pursuing the land issues for the Children's Village and making preparations for the team that is coming next month. Nevertheless, I am very excited about what God is doing!

The first two weeks of my month began with intense prayer and fasting. I prayed on the Children's Land for one week-dedicating it to the Lord and seeking wisdom and direction about the vision that God has given to me. The next week I spent at a Prayer Mountain in Entebbe (the city where the airport is located). The Prayer Mountain is a place where people come from all over the world to pray and seek the Lord. During this week, I continued to gain more insight and direction from the Lord and was reminded of my intense need of Him. I also found, as I often do, that the more I seek the Lord, the more he draws himself close to me. I believe that this experience had a significant impact on my personal life and my spiritual walk with the Lord.

During the last two weeks, I spent a considerable amount of time making preparations for the mission's team. I am very excited about their arrival, and they also are getting very excited about their journey. I believe that it is going to be a life changing experience for many of them!

This is the first team that I have ever hosted. I am usually the one who is taking the trips It is exciting and overwhelming at the same time. It is definitely lots of work! I thank God for helping me, and I am very grateful for Pastor Victor's help as well. He has been an invaluable resource to me.

I am very pleased to report that progress continues to be made on the Children's Land. Two days ago I visited the land and found a number of bricks that had been made. They are also tilling the hard core stones. The joy in my heart was inexpressible! My dreams are truly becoming realities!

We also had a variety of visitors on the Children's Land. We had two surveyors come and look at the land to give us an estimate. The second surveyor was half the price of the first! We praise God for that. Hopefully, their team will be coming soon to survey the land and begin the process for the land title. Everything in Africa seems to take a long time, but I have been reminded that God is never late! He is always right on time. I continue to pray for patience.

Next, we had an architect visit the land to give us an estimate and plan for the building plans of the Children's Village. He has given us a preliminary plan for the medical center and hospital we plan to construct. Finally, we had a microbiologist and water engineer visit the land in order to give us estimates and advice regarding a water system and take a water sample for testing.

In the midst of all of this, I am still trying to learn how to cook the local foods, learn the language, interact with the people, and learn more about the culture. I find every day that there is just not enough time!

God continues to be my sustainer through it all. I know that it is only by his grace that I have the strength and determination to keep going. When I get overwhelmed with all of the work that needs to be done, I remind myself that I don't have to accomplish it on my own. I have the best boss and coworker-one who enables all things to be possible. I know that I cannot fail when the Lord is on my side!

Please continue to keep me and the ministry in your prayers. I have included a prayer list at the end of this e-mail. We definitely need them. Thank you again for all of your love, support, and prayers. God has definitely sent you into my life for a very special purpose, and I am truly grateful for you. I often think about how blessed I am to have such a strong network of supporters in the US. God has surely blessed my life abundantly with each one of you. I wish that I had time to share with you personally, but please know that I deeply appreciate each one of you. God bless.

Faithfully Surrendered to Christ,

Alissa Cooper

Prayer Requests

  1. Mission's Team Coming from June 18-June 25. Please pray that all of the necessary preparations will be made both in the US and in Uganda. Pray for the various activities that they are going to be engaging in-door to door evangelism/distribution of supplies, medical center construction, school and hospital ministry, Pastor and Church Leader's Conference, and free medical services. Pray that we will truly be a blessing to the people and that the demonstration of our love and compassion will draw their hearts to the Lord. There are a number of other requests that can be prayed for regarding this issue. Please be sensitive to the Lord and cover this area with lots of prayer.

  2. Medical Center Construction. Please pray that all of the materials will be fully completed by the time the mission's team comes and that all the requirements to begin construction will be fulfilled. Please pray for unity and harmony between Ugandan and American workers. Please also pray for financial provision for a construction vehicle that will enable us to transport the materials to the building site.

  3. Surveying Process/Land Title. Please pray that this process will begin SOON! People can delay in Africa, but God can make things happen quickly. We are hoping to have this process completed by no later than August or September.

  4. Water System Project. Please pray that we have wisdom in deciding about the water system and that God opens up a door for the funding of this system. We need a miracle!

  5. Child Sponsorship/Orphan Care. We will be seeking out the neediest children this month in order to begin to make preparations for Child Sponsorship. Please pray that we find those children who are suffering the most. I know God can give us divine appointments, and I am believing Him to guide our steps.

  6. Safety and Protection for our Lives and our Belongings. We have had thieves who have entered part of our house and have also tried to break in. Thank God nothing significant was taken-just a pair of shoes and our chicken (I have to say I was a little sad about the chicken. Chicken is not eaten very often because of the expense, and it is my favorite meat. This chicken was a gift from one of the people in the village, and I was really looking forward to eating it) I know God is able to watch over us and our possessions, but please commit this situation to prayer.

  7. Management of Time. Please pray that Victor and I are given wisdom about how to manage the time that we have. We have so many programs and tasks to be accomplished. We need the guidance and direction of the Lord to prioritize everything and accomplish those tasks which are most important. I know there are only limited hours in a day, even if I wish there were more.

  8. Spiritual, Emotional, and Physical Health. Victor and I have both struggled with some sickness in the last month, but the Lord is good. He is our healer. We also need continual restoration and refreshment for the other areas of our lives as well.

  9. Children and People of Kyenjojo. Please lift up this area to the Lord. There are many challenges facing the children and people here, and we personally are faced with challenges as we seek to reach out to them.

  10. Adaptations to Culture. Please continue to keep me in your prayers as I seek to adapt to a new culture.

  11. Blessing and Favor of the Lord. Please pray that we will have the blessing and favor of the Lord on all the endeavors we are seeking to pursue. Pray that we will be given divine favor with the people in this area and the government officials of Uganda.

Those are all of the requests that I am going to mention for now. If urgent requests come up before I send another update, I will e-mail them to you. Thank you for your prayers. They are moving mountains!

CMM Saint Jimenez MAY Argentina newsletter/ / GOOD NEWS!!!

           Humberto and Evelyn Jimenez-Saint

Youth is not a time of life, it's a state of mind.

You are as young as your faith, as old as your doubt; as young as your self-confidence, as old as your fear;

as young as your hope, as old as your despair.

Unknown

                                                                                 May 2009

Dearest friends,

The Lord is good! And like the quote expresses it, youth is a state of mind… and we are as young as that in which we believe… and as Christians we know that Christ has risen to bring hope and salvation to us…

We have had months of many blessings and challenges. In the photo, you can see the new music group that was formed with this young ex-rock musician, and they traveled to a small pueblo in Córdoba to minister with music and testimony… we are delighted to add this new venture to our outreach, as this young man has a strong testimony of leaving the rock and drug culture and finding the Lord… and the songs are his own, so it becomes doubly special! Their next outreach will be a very marginal neighborhood in our city, where the youth will also be evangelizing on the streets along with the music. (See our son Ari at the right, sitting playing the bass guitar).

Our third year of music school started last month, with 28 students, and Christian professors, for which we are delighted… teaching guitar, percussion, singing and keyboard. Pray for us, that the funds for the professors may be available each month… (half of the students have scholarships).

We continue to help with government projects. We have presented five projects that will possibly be financed by the government, through our friend who is part of the present one, to reach many congregations in our city: schools of music, sports, educational courses, computer programs and arts.

God is opening doors! We gathered on April 29th with over 40 pastors with the Minister of Social Action of our provincial government, in which he reaffirmed the 50 projects the government will be funding to evangelical churches in our city. What a great opportunity! Imagine 50 churches offering programs that will extend spiritual and social aid in these days to their neighborhoods! The four Christian schools will also participate in this program, probably receiving equipment like computers that will be useful to the students. So… Humberto and I are participating on the organization of all this, so that things will turn out efficiently. In the photo Humberto is praying for the Minister, who's at his left, and then left again, is José, our friend in the government who is enabling these possibilities.

More good news! If you remember, we have been praying for a property to use for retreats and activities for several years… and see our answer to prayer! A friend who owns property close to the city of Córdoba (just 20 minutes away) is donating 6000 square meters of land in which to build and prepare such a place. The challenge? We need U$ 2,000 to pay for the legal paperwork. The property borders a small creek, and has trees and greenery… what we need next are funds to build a fence and start with the basic requirements for the place to be useful, bathroom, a roof, and a basic kitchen. Another U$ 3,000 would provide for this. In the photo Humberto and a friend are "treading the land".

Important notice: We have been praying about our trip to the States, but even though it would have been a joy to be with friends and family and churches, we decided that the timing and various other factors are indicating that it is wisest for us not to travel. So.. we have cancelled our trip.

Prayer requests:  Even as we are aware of the difficult world economy, we trust the Lord to continue to raise mission warriors that will bless the mission field! Humberto and I are so grateful to those who give to our ministry in love and faithfulness!

Be blessed!

Evelyn

Swine Flu Updates

 Greetings,

This is from Morningstar Fellowship of Ministries Disaster Response Team.  Please feel free to share this with your churches and members.

Blessings,
Jorge

Dear Members,

As some of you may know, MFM is also in charge of the Disaster Response area of MorningStar.  We wanted to share some information and research with you concerning the swine flu.  One of our MFC Pastors, Bill Perry, wrote the following letter to his congregation in regards to the swine flu, and we have also been preparing different flyers and notes to handout to the congregation here at MorningStar (these documents are attached to this email).  We are sending this in effort to not only give you more information about the current Pandemic Phase we are in, but also to let you know how you should be preparing your household as well as helping those around you.

You are all more than welcome to reproduce the letter below or the attached documents to distribute to your congregations, friends, and family.  We will also be updating MorningStar's Disaster Response website frequently as we receive more information.  You can visit the Disaster Response page by clicking the following link:

Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.  We are trying to stay as informed on this as we can.

Hi Folks,

A number of you have inquired concerning the current flu situation that has emerged out of Mexico.  We've been watching the situation closely, praying and seeking the Lord for wisdom.  The question has been raised, "is this the pandemic we've been hearing about, and been encouraged to prepare for?".  The answer is a resounding, "maybe."  I believe that this is serious, but I don't believe that we are in imminent danger, and I will explain that after we look briefly at the present situation.

Here are the facts that have emerged since Monday:
The World Health Organization raised the Pandemic Level to "5" this afternoon.  That's just 48 hours after they moved it to "4" on Monday.  The move to "4" on Monday was unprecedented.  Level 5 by definition indicates that a pandemic is imminent.  This means that whatever plans you currently have in place to protect your household should be reviewed and readied for execution if the flu continues to spread.

The following definition of level 5 is taken from the WHO website:
"Phase 5 is characterized by human-to-human spread of the virus into at least two countries in one WHO region. While most countries will not be affected at this stage, the declaration of Phase 5 is a strong signal that a pandemic is imminent and that the time to finalize the organization, communication, and implementation of the planned mitigation measures is short."

This sounds worse than the situation as it currently exists.  We've actually been at level 5 since last week based on the stated definition.  The WHO is traditionally conservative in their announcements due to the economic and social impact of such a move.

Here are a couple of things to keep in mind:

  1. To this point, the flu has been relatively mild everywhere except Mexico (the only US death was a child who had been infected in Mexico).
  2. There are still only a limited number of cases in the US.  Begin now to educate yourself about how to limit exposure to the virus and prepare your household if this situation should change, but do so in faith, not in fear.
  3. We've been praying against pandemic flu since August, 2005.  Stand confident that our prayers are effective.  Believe Psalm 91!

Here's what I believe we are experiencing:
I believe this is a "shakedown cruise".  That's a naval term for the process of commissioning a new ship.  The ship is built and then sent out for a brief tour to test all the systems, look for any potential deficiencies or bugs, and then brought back into port for final preparation before being released on an actual mission.  I asked the Lord yesterday what this season was.  I believe He told me this is a "checkride".  This is a test to see if we are prepared on a personal level to confront both a real threat and the fears that accompany such threats, real or perceived.  I would expect that we will not go to Level 6 (actual pandemic) at this time.

Your preparation for any crisis on a personal level will provide a foundation for confidence and faith in the face of circumstances that could easily become overwhelming.  Making preparation for your household will free you to make decisions and take action in faith, instead of responding from a reactionary position.  It's like the announcement on commercial airlines... "if the plane experiences decompression, oxygen masks will be released.  Put your own mask on first before helping others."  The reason for this is simple.  In the event of a crisis all of our response systems change.  The confidence afforded you by some simple steps of preparation will insulate you from some of the immediate pressures associated with a crisis.  If you take time to plan and provide for your household before a crisis occurs, you will be free to think and hear more clearly on behalf of the community we're called to serve in the event of an actual crisis.

The next several days could present some significant opportunities for people to experience a great deal of fear depending on how the media represents today's announcement from the WHO.  The main thing we need to address in prayer immediately is the fear that the enemy would seek to aggressively sow in this season.  Remember Paul's encouragement to Timothy, "for God did not give to us a spirit of fearfulness but of power and of a divine and self-sacrificial love and of a sound mind."  II Tim. 1:7

Intercession and the prayers of God's people have stopped the advance of plagues and disease before.  We should stand in faith and expect nothing less for our community.

I am including a couple of good websites that detail preparations for a typical household in the event of a pandemic.  Again, the issue for us is that we move forward to prepare in faith, not motivated by panic or fear. Our mandate is to position ourselves to be a resource for the community we are called to serve.

Grace,
Bill & Heather

Prov 22:3 A prudent man foresees the difficulties ahead and prepares for them; the simpleton goes blindly on and suffers the consequences. (TLB)

Here's a declaration for agreement as we pray:
"We declare according to Mark 11:22-24 that this mountain of sickness and it's associated fear be removed from our community even before it has opportunity to present itself.  We stand in faith, based on Psalm 91, and decree that no plague or calamity will come near our dwellings.  Fear will not influence our hearts or the decisions of our community leaders.  We believe that the household of faith in Hartsville and the surrounding region is a city of refuge and will be a marked by a supernatural resistance to plagues and pandemics.  We will stand prepared to serve a community of people who are destined to experience the amazing kindness of God in the face of calamity, both real and perceived.  In Jesus' Name, Amen!"
