India: Exodus of 80 by Chris Chaney

 India: Exodus of 80

Coming out of Egypt

Not all who read this know the history of the 35, so bear with me if you already

know their story. Six weeks ago, 35 Hindu priests came together to hear the Gospel from

me. They had all walked over 100 km from out of the hill country because they had

heard of the teaching I had been giving and heard of the many healing testimonies. They

wanted to give their lives to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. The Lord had prepared

their hearts. Of course, they were aware of the high and immediate cost this would

bring to bear upon their lives, their families, and just about everything else. Falling from

the highest caste (the Braman) to becoming outcasts has indeed been hard upon them

all. One of the wives was beaten to within an inch of her life. Jesus stepped in and

miraculously healed her. She and her husband have moved and are now leading many

souls to Christ. They are just about ready to plant their first church. So now we call

them the 34. Mary Bethany is not with the group anymore, but the rest are. So now we

call them the 34 (80 people in all including some very small children).

Their lives are in constant danger. Death threats are frequent. The government has

severed all assistance for them. They have been living by the side of the road in a tent

village up until now. But as you can imagine, this is not a sustainable situation. They

need to relocate and start a new life, a life where they can worship Jesus Christ and

learn all that goes along with being Christians. They have boldly declared they will

follow Christ come what may. Nothing will cause them to turn back.

Please pray and ask the Lord what He would have you give to support

this God-ordained trip and see many more know Jesus as Lord and Savior.

The Promised Land

So we have been praying and asking the Lord to make a way for them to move forward

and into a safer living situation. Admittedly, this has seemed to be nearly impossible.

But as you all know, nothing is impossible for the Lord.

I am happy to inform everyone that the Lord has done such a thing. Last week I prayed

with pastor Joy for another pastor named Chodar who was being persecuted by the

local authorities. They were trying to seize his house and throw him and his family out

on the streets--sound familiar? They were claiming he did not not have title and deed to

his property. So the 2 of us prayed. We asked God to convict the wicked officials who

were lying about Chodar's home. And voila, the official suddenly did an about face and

declared to Chodar that they had found the title and deed afterall. He could stay in his

house.

Pastor Chodar has been so elated because of the immediate answer to prayer that he

has agreed to set up a living situation for all 80 people. The houses are there and

empty. The 80 can move in immediately. The only problem is it is around 150 km away,

so transportation has to be arranged for all of them.

The Obstacle

So what is needed is for generous brothers and sisters to help shuttle them to their new

homes. I am told the quote is $22 per person. At this point just getting a few people

there would help them to secure the properties for all of them. The rest can be

transported over a few days or weeks. But ultimately, the cost will be around $1,800 to

relocate the 34 with their families. Additional funds would also be helpful to assist them

into setting up their lives there and for establishing a church there too. This would

make the 4th church plant in just the past month because of what the Lord has been

doing in Odisha and surrounding areas.

The Best Defense Is a Good Offense

The Holy Spirit has been confirming the preaching of the word with tremendous signs

and wonders. There is no doubt in my mind that we are only seeing the very beginning

of true revival in India. Won't you consider stepping in a playing a vital role in what is

happening there? As people turn to Christ, the government and locals routinely

persecute those who are converting--almost without exception. As others see that

those who are turning are successfully establishing their new lives as Christians, many

more will follow. The momentum of revival is important too. I am desiring to continue

to press forward. The water is teeming with fish. With each cast of the net, many more

are drawn into the Kingdom of God. These are exciting times indeed!
